How to reforge weapons

Reforge lets you respec a weapon path inside the 2+2 loadout. Per PlayStation Blog (17 August 2026), upgrade materials return when you reforge—still verify the UI path in your patch before large respecs.

  1. Open the reforge UI

From your equipment, forge, or blacksmith / reforge menu (exact menu path may vary by patch and platform), open the reforge interface. On PC confirm the keybind; on PS5 check the pause equipment tab. If the option is gated, progress story until the forge unlocks—do not invent a menu name that is not on screen.

  2. Select the weapon or Edge to reforge

Choose the primary weapon or Phantom Edge you want to respec. Confirm you are targeting the right slot in the 2+2 loadout (two primaries + two Edges) before continuing. Note current upgrade investments so you can compare after the refund.

  3. Review costs and preview the result

Read any shown material list, gold cost, or lock warnings. PlayStation Blog (17 August 2026) states that reforge returns upgrade materials—treat that as official. Still verify the refund UI path in your patch before a mass respec; if your build shows a fee or partial refund, log it.

  4. Confirm reforge and re-allocate

Confirm the reforge, then re-allocate upgrades toward your new role (pressure, precision-counter, or dual-tempo). Re-equip Edge slots if the respec cleared them. Spot-check Sha-Chi feel with a weapon-swap drill after the change.

  5. Update your notes and tables

Record the menu path and refund behavior in your patch. Update personal notes and help keep this wiki’s reforge claim accurate. Pair with the weapons table and builds hub before another large respec.

When should I reforge?

After you understand early Hunt pressure and want to swap role focus (one-handed pressure, precision-counter, or dual-tempo), reforge instead of grinding duplicate upgrades. Materials-return is official per PS Blog—confirm the refund screen live so you know the exact menu path on your platform.

What about Phantom Edges?

Edges are part of the same arsenal fantasy. If reforge covers Edges in your build, apply the same verify-then-respec habit. Track Edge-to-boss links on Phantom Edges and pair this HowTo with the weapons table and builds hub.
